Congratulations to our 2024 Honoree! Your advocacy for CASA and the children we serve has not gone unnoticed
Champion for Children: The Champion demonstrates exemplary service toward the best interest of children in Barry, Eaton, and Ingham Counties. David H. Hughes 3/24/47 - 5/11/21 David was known as many things, including a son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and business owner. Coming from extremely humble beginnings, it would have been easy to follow the rough path of life as he was destined to do, but David was a fighter. He fought for his success. David understood what it was like not to be a priority or to be valued as a child, left hungry and alone to care for his siblings. He made it his mission not to raise children as he had been raised. David overcame his destiny and went on to create a successful career with his wife, Cheryl. In the process, he provided a very good living for over 100 employees, including his children. David was a simple man. His humble beginnings ensured he didn't need much to be happy, which also afforded him the opportunity to help others. He was generous to a fault. David embodied CASA's Champion for the Children with his generous spirit and passion for supporting children in need. It is an honor to award him posthumously; his legacy of changing children's stories continues. |
